Praying to be witnesses of Hope
1. Being kindhearted and helpful to others is a significant way of witnessing Christ to others. As the Samaritan showed compassion, let us also pray for a kind heartedness and a spirit of compassion to be cultivated inside us. Pray for a willingness to help and an understanding of the needs of our neighbors.
2. Sacrifice stems from a limited supply of a said resource (Time or/and money). Let us pray for a faith and trust in God that He is our provider and the principal rewarder of our giving. Like the Samaritan, He spent a night at the Inn (time) and paid the needy man’s bills (money). All probably without plan. Let us pray for the spirit of sacrifice and giving even at a surprise.
3. Many good people tend to fail to help the hurt. Let us pray that we will no longer be selfish good people. Pray for the Spirit of discernment in our every interaction with our neighbors that God will be able to reveal to us opportunities to bless others. Pray that we will be humble enough to involve ourselves in the “messy” situations of our neighbors all for the Glory of God.
4. In our mission to witness through mercy, there is a risk the victims misunderstanding our purpose of acts of mercy. Pray for effective ministering through acts of mercy. Pray that as witnesses we make it clear that we have been sent by the Almighty God and that God loves the receiver. Pray that indeed the needy will come to realize the truth of Christ Jesus and surrender their lives to Him.
5. Pray that as we embark on this journey of witnessing through Hope, we do not grow weary and tired. Pray for a sustenance from God as we go out in loving even our “difficult, lazy, irresponsible” neighbors. For in due time, we shall receive our reward.
