Praying for World Situations

  1. The Libyan City of Derna was hit by a cyclone last week. Thousands of lives (11,300) have been lost, some are missing, infrastructure has been destroyed. There is grief and anger among the survivors. Pray that they will experience comfort from the Lord. Pray that in the midst of this grief they will find the Lord.
  2. Two cargo ships have arrived at a Ukrainian port after travelling through the Black Sea using a new route. They are due to load 20,000 tonnes of wheat bound for world markets. This is the first time civilian ships have reached a Ukrainian port since the collapse of a deal with Russia ensuring the safety of vessels. Thank God for the development and pray that what the Lord has begun will be brought to completion.
  3. Fourteen people have been killed in a plane crash during bad weather in the Brazilian Amazon on Saturday. Pray for the families of the deceased that they will be comforted. Also pray for the safety of all that are travelling by air, in bad weather, to various destinations.
  4. Morocco was hit by an earthquake and the death toll, currently at 2,800, is expected to rise. Pray that God continues to comfort families of the deceased and that support will be able to reach all the victims of the earthquake. 
  5. The UN General Assembly (UNGA) will be meeting from 19th to 23rd September, 2023 to discuss the journey towards achieving the 2030 Agenda. Pray for seriousness in these world leaders as they discuss and pray that their agenda will be aligned to God’s purposes.
